Invisalign® FAQ

Getting Invisalign® braces is easier than ever at Kennesaw Orthodontics near Georgia. Board-certified orthodontists Dr. Ruchir R . Patel, Dr. Kalpesh Thakkar are each Invisalign® Preferred Providers, making treatments easily accessible at both our Kennesaw locations.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® uses clear, removable aligners that straighten your teeth without the need for metal braces. Our Georgia orthodontists use 3D imaging and impression technology to create accurate trays that slowly shift your teeth into alignment. As you change the aligners out every two weeks, your teeth become straighter than before. Gradually, your entire bite comes into alignment.

Will others be able to see my Invisalign® aligners?

Every Invisalign® tray is made of clear, durable plastic that is essentially invisible when placed over your teeth. If small attachments are needed, our orthodontists will also use tooth-colored materials that blend in with your entire smile. Most people who wear Invisalign® can go to work or school without their friends ever knowing that they are wearing braces.

How does Invisalign® straighten teeth?

Having Invisalign® braces is just as efficient as most other types of braces for adults or braces for teens. Instead of using brackets and wires, Invisalign® uses custom-shaped clear aligners that systematically move your teeth into alignment. Every two weeks you will change your aligners out with the next set in the series. This prevents the need for adjustment appointments in our West Cobb offices.

Can Invisalign® aligners be removed during treatment?

We recommend only removing your clear aligners during meals, brushing, and flossing. Excessive time without your aligners in place can cause a delay in results.

Will Invisalign® affect my speech?

Some people may experience a slight change in their speech when they wear Invisalign® for the first time. However, the aligners are very thin and comfortable to wear. If you’ve ever worn retainers or whitening trays, the Invisalign® aligner will feel very similar.

Can I drink beverages when wearing my Invisalign® aligners?

To avoid damaging your aligners, you will need to remove Invisalign® at every meal. It’s recommended that if you drink with Invisalign® in, you only drink water. Otherwise, the natural or artificial sugars in your drink could increase your risk of tooth decay.

How will I clean my Invisalign® aligners?

It’s easier to keep your teeth clean when you wear Invisalign® than any other type of braces. Just remove your aligners and brush them thoroughly with lukewarm tap water and a soft brush. Be sure to brush and floss your teeth thoroughly before putting your aligners back into your mouth.

How long will my Invisalign® treatment take?

The length of your Invisalign® or Invisalign® Teen treatment will vary depending on your individual needs. However, most of our Georgia Invisalign® patients complete their treatment in about a year. Because we use advanced technology to create your aligners and plan treatment, West Cobb Orthodontics can give you a good idea of how long your treatment will take at the time of your initial consultation.
